reason #879 why albert maysles might just be the coolest man alive

following a presentation of his 1975 hit-documentary ‘grey gardens’ earlier today at LACMA, when i asked to take a photograph of the famed director with his friend liz goldwyn he posed obligingly and then, after viewing the first shot he immediately protested “closer, closer! really get into the face now, closer!” i’ve never heard that in hollywood before, folks.

you may have noticed…

for anyone who has been following this blog for a while now you may have noticed since the beginning of the year that the street style shots are frequently starting to be mixed with assorted cultural references spanning film, music, art and so on. put simply, when i started documenting street style close to two years ago there were just a handful of blogs doing the same and now it appears everyone has jumped on the bandwagon. which leaves me feeling kinda bored and particularly, as though i’m following a trend when in fact i set out to do just the opposite. therefore, whilst i’ll still attempt to include the occasional street shot, i think the time is right to integrate different influences and discoveries that catch my eye, all of which essentially echo the spirit that is delinlee delovely. i hope every one of you will stick with me on this and enjoy the ride. if you learn something new every couple of days or if i can add an element of surprise or inspiration to your world then i’m accomplishing my mission.

and who better to inaugurate the announcement than edie beale in this here photo taken by director albert maysles whilst filming the cult-classic “grey gardens.”
