this book, this quote…
a very important summer read for those whose curiosity is sparked by brassai, miller, picasso and such: “henry miller, happy rock” by brassai. and now for my favorite quote (by brassai, on miller): “and here comes our asian couple: the little japanese woman, charming in a canary yellow suit, he, wearing his eternal beige houndstooth cap, tanned by the california sun. with the chinese slit of the eyelids, his broad oriental nostrils, his thick lower lip, he is more tibetan, more dalai lama, than ever. he goes through customs leaning on a cane. in his recent letter he has complained of pain in his legs.”
west coast beauty…
