all hail david segal

the mind boggles at a certain man who answers to the name larry gagosian. all hail new york times writer david segal who recently penned this must-read portrayal of the art world maestro most consider to be a shark. as if that isn’t intriguing enough, how about my favorite quote from the article (supposedly coming from gagosian himself): “if you want that francis bacon you need to give me your lichtenstein and the two basquiats.”

delinlee hearts glamour?

i’ll confess i’ve never purchased an issue of glamour magazine in my life but that might just be about to change following the news of a new feature project in their latest issue spotlighting the definition of ‘glamour’ according to ten top female artists (a recurring theme of late, see colette x lomo posting below). my favorites: marilyn minter’s “chewing pink” crystallized sugar lips and mickalene thomas’ rhinestone-encrusted portrait titled “meet qusuquzah.”
