betty freeman in da’ house!!!!!

yesterday in beverly hills i was lucky enough to witness a sale preview hosted by christie’s of famed philanthropist betty freeman’s soon-to-be-auctioned art collection comprising works by roy lichenstein, david hockney, andy warhol and the list continues. its said that freeman, the hostess of many a music salon get together in her 90210 mansion, wanted a dan flavin piece in every room. the upstairs bedroom (pictured below with a neon red installation in the corner above the bed) was actually her son’s room. when i first walked in to the room the negative feng shui element was so incredibly apparent, it made me curious to find out what the son (who spent his teenage years in this room) actually does today. when i asked about that i was told “he is retired now and was known to be quite an accomplished surfer.” er, naturally.
