its not really possible to orchestrate a fashion-related blog and not address the week-end death of yves saint laurent. for anyone who ever witnessed footage of him in interviews or documentaries over the past couple of years its evident that he wasn’t exactly in the happiest of states, particularly recently due to the effects of brain cancer. that said, i’ll leave the obituary-like phrases of respect to the fashion journo-professionals like cathy horyn and suzy menkes today, and instead move forward with intrigue over ways in which this guy – ysl’s current creative director stefano pilati – will choose to pay homage to the designer in october at fashion week in paris.

donovan leitch…mark my words, this guy has got some kind of old hollywood vibe happening right now so much so that i’m predicting someone will peg him in the next couple of seasons for an ad campaign. honest to god.
